Is Resume.io free? Here is where payment starts

Partly. Resume.io's pricing page lists a free plan with "Only one resume and cover letter" and "Downloads only in TXT format". PDF downloads come with its paid plans. On October 3, 2026, its pricing page as seen from the US listed a 7-day trial at $2.95 that auto-renews at $29.95 every 4 weeks. Prices shown vary by location.

What you can do on Resume.io without paying

Its help centre says you can use several tools "100% free of charge, with no need to enter any credit card information", with a free account.

Free, by Resume.io's own pages Part of a paid plan, by its pricing page and help centre
One resume and one cover letter "Unlimited resumes and cover letters"
Downloading as a .txt file "Unlimited PDF downloads"
"Limited resume sharing and analytics" DOCX (Word) downloads, on the templates that offer it
"All premium templates and colors"

Its help article on downloads puts the line in one place: "if you are using the free version of resume.io, you will only be able to download your resume or cover letter in a TXT format."

One of its pages says something different. An older help article (edited November 25, 2024) says the free plan can download "a PDF using the Vancouver template, or a TXT file". The pricing page and the newer download article (edited October 22, 2025) say TXT only. Check what the builder offers you before you pay.

A .txt file has no layout: no columns, no fonts, no design. If you want a designed PDF on Resume.io, that is where payment starts.

Where payment starts, as of October 3, 2026

Resume.io shows different prices in different places. The figures below are what its pricing page showed to a US connection on October 3, 2026; from Europe the same page showed €2.95, then €24.95 every 4 weeks, and €49.95 a quarter. Its help centre says "Many of our trial and premium memberships are priced and billed in US dollars, although our website sometimes displays our pricing information in your local currency."

Plan on the pricing page (US) First charge Then
7-day trial $2.95 "After 7 days, auto-renews to $29.95 billed every 4 weeks"
Quarterly $49.95 "Auto-renews to $49.95 billed every 3 months"
Free plan $0.00 No charge

Three things worth knowing before you choose:

  • Every 4 weeks is not monthly. Its help centre says the subscription "is based on a 4-week cycle (28 days)". That is 13 charges a year: at the US price of $29.95, $389.35 a year if you never cancel (our arithmetic from the listed price).
  • The trial price is once only. Its help centre: "Trial pricing is only available once per account."
  • Plans differ by place. Its billing article describes 6-month and yearly subscriptions after which "your account will be automatically downgraded to our free plan", and one-time payments "in certain countries" that "do not auto renew". The pricing page we saw listed a quarterly plan that auto-renews instead. It says plans "can vary by location", so the checkout page you see is the one that counts.

Is Resume.io legit?

What can be checked from its own pages:

  • Who runs it. Its terms are an agreement with "Talent Worldwide, Inc. and its subsidiaries and affiliates", covering the career.io and resume.io platforms. Its terms and contact page give the address "Resume.io // Imkey BV", van Coothplein 39a, Breda, Netherlands. Its help centre says it has run "Since its inception in 2013".
  • It is a real paid subscription. Its terms say that for recurring charges "you consent to our charging your payment method on a recurring basis without requiring your prior approval for each recurring charge, until you notify us of your cancellation."
  • How charges appear. Look for RESUME.IO on your statement, as its billing article says.
  • Cancelling. Its terms say you can cancel "at any time by logging into your account or contacting us". The full steps are in how to cancel Resume.io.

Some customers report being charged after the trial or after they believed they had cancelled; you can read their accounts on Trustpilot.

What Resume.io does well

To be fair to it: the free plan needs no card, and a .txt download costs nothing. Paid plans include DOCX on several templates, which some application portals ask for. You can cancel from a web form without signing in, and its help centre says documents you made on a paid plan "will still be available to download once you downgrade your plan". Its pricing page lists a 7-day money back guarantee, and its help centre says you can pause your account once.

If you only need one resume

If you decide to pay for the trial to get one designed PDF:

  1. Write down the day you signed up. Day 7 is when it renews.
  2. Finish and download everything you need first.
  3. Cancel before the 7 days are up, and confirm the cancellation from the email Resume.io sends. Its help centre says a successful cancellation sends a confirmation email.

If a PDF is all you want, ResumeGood lets you build, edit and download one free; the download needs a free account.

Questions

How much does Resume.io cost?

Its prices vary by location. On October 3, 2026, its pricing page as seen from the US listed a 7-day trial at $2.95 that auto-renews at $29.95 every 4 weeks, and a quarterly plan at $49.95 that auto-renews every 3 months. From Europe the same page showed €2.95, €24.95 and €49.95. Check the checkout page.

Does Resume.io have a free trial?

It has a paid 7-day trial, not a free one. Its help centre says the trial price is "only available once per account", and that after 7 days the trial renews into a subscription "billed every 4 weeks" unless you cancel.

Can I download my Resume.io resume for free?

Yes, as a plain .txt file with a free account. Its pricing page lists "Downloads only in TXT format" for the free plan. PDF and Word (DOCX) files come with a paid plan.

Is Resume.io legit?

It is a real company with published terms, a Netherlands business address and a paid subscription that renews automatically. Its help centre says it has run since 2013. Read the billing terms before you pay, because the trial turns into a subscription.

What does a Resume.io charge look like on my statement?

Its help centre says the payment "will generally appear on your bank or card statement as: RESUME.IO".

Can I get my money back from Resume.io?

Its pricing page lists a 7-day money back guarantee. Its help centre says "Our refund policy allows refunds only within the first 7 days of account creation." Its terms otherwise say "No refunds will be provided for our subscription services."
